Introduction
This is an introduction to the Antilag feature.
What is Antilag?
Antilag is a feature that allows you to spool the turbo while the vehicle is moving and not accelerating. This can be though of as launch control for when the vehicle is moving.
How does it work in DS1?
In DS1, you can setup “Map 9” based antilag. This does however have a few limitations that we sought to fix with our version.
- Map 9 entry is accidentally activated when you touch the cruise control stalk downwards.
- Map 9 sets a simple retard curve based on the RPM deviation. Meaning it uses ignition timing to hold the car back. Generating excessive heat and often overspooling the turbo causing throttle closure.
- Map 9 does not have any form of protection against overboost.
- Map 9 does not have any form of auto launch.
How does Scorpion’s version work?
Scorpion’s antilag version is significantly more sophisticated. At its core it holds the vehicle RPM and speed back either by fuel cutting or by ignition cutting. It then uses a linear function to determine the amount of retard to apply based on the boost deviation. This also has the effect that we never overboost. In addition to this it has other features such as Auto Launch, where the vehicle will automatically launch when optimal boost pressure is achieved.
Default Settings
By default, we have setup manual antilag, which is comparable in usage to DS1s Map 9 antilag when the cruise stalk is DOWN
, while the vehicle will Auto Launch when the cruise stalk is UP
.
